How can how can we harness the power of reading, change attitudes, and in turn have an impact on children’s mental wellbeing?
As well as being one of the greatest indicators of academic success, it is generally accepted that reading for pleasure positively affects mental health, self-esteem, empathy, mood and stress.
The theme of this years' World Book Day follows the message "You are a reader", and focuses on how to engage all children with reading, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The following webinar with The School Library Association, explores how we can drive increased engagement by working to better understand each child's attitude to reading. Ultimately, it’s about their passions, interests, abilities and dislikes and only through understanding these better are school staff able to inform and inspire a love of reading.
